Position: Accounts Payable Coordinator (Temporary to Permanent)
Compensation: $35/hour
Location: Hybrid - New York City

Overview:
A well-established nonprofit organization in New York City is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Coordinator for a temporary role with the potential to convert to permanent. This position supports the accounting team with invoice processing, vendor management, disbursements, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, hands-on accounts payable experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enter vendor invoices and payment obligations into the accounting system (experience with Great Plains a plus)

  • Monitor the A/P inbox and workflow for requests and approvals

  • Review bills and disbursement requests for accuracy, proper approvals, and supporting documentation

  • Maintain A/P aging schedules and track outstanding liabilities

  • Organize and store documentation (digital and physical)

  • Verify and update vendor information as needed

  • Assist with monthly account analyses, journal entries, and audit preparation

  • Process annual 1099 forms

  • Provide general accounting and administrative support as needed

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Accounting with 4+ years of A/P experience; Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Proficiency in accounting systems/software (knowledge of either Intacct, Blackbaud, Financial Edge, orGreat Plains strongly preferred)

  • Strong Excel and Adobe Acrobat skills

  • Ability to research data, run reports, and perform basic account analysis

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and customer service orientation

  • Comfortable with vendor communication and outreach

  • Ability to multitask and support the wider team as needed

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure.
