Overview

The US Oncology Network is looking for a Director of Product Strategy and Innovation to join our team at Texas Oncology. This is a hybrid-remote full-time position, and will require travel about 30% of the time for meetings and training. Preferred that candidate resides in Texas, but not necessary to live in Dallas area.

This role is ideal for a systems thinker who can balance enterprise strategy, product design, vendor partnerships, clinical/healthcare operations, modern patient expectations, and delivery execution.

What does the Director of Product Strategy and Innovation do?

As the leading oncology practice in the country, Texas Oncology is constantly evolving to advance patient care and staff experience. The Director of Product Strategy and Innovation plays a key role in that evolution by leading the team that defines the most critical problems to solve, sizing the opportunities, and then leading the design, evaluation, and implementation of enterprise solutions that transform care delivery, operational performance, and patient/provider/staff experience. This role connects clinical and operational priorities with scalable, value-driven digital and technology solutions. The director works cross-functionally with physician leadership, IT, clinical leadership, operations leadership, other functional leaders, and vendor partners to ensure that innovations are strategically aligned, operationally viable, and successfully adopted.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Product & Innovation Strategy

  • Define, evolve, and execute a solution roadmap aligned to enterprise priorities, care transformation goals, and technology trends
  • Lead opportunity assessments and translate clinical/operational needs into actionable solution strategies
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to shape digital product direction and use cases
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and assess their applicability to the organization's transformation goals
  • Maintain deep knowledge of clinical and operational workflows and structures in order to design solutions that transform process and people, as well as technology

Vendor & Partnership Management

  • Partner with IT to identify and evaluate potential vendor partners, conduct structured assessments, and lead cross-functional selection processes
  • Guide contract evaluation, risk assessment, and partnership planning in collaboration with legal and procurement and IT
  • Recommend governance models for vendor relationships in partnership with IT, define business metrics and operational success metrics and monitoring processes

Solution Design & Implementation Oversight

  • Guide the early design and pilot planning of enterprise-scale digital solutions, associated new workflows, and potential personnel changes
  • Collaborate with IT, PMO, and Change Management to ensure implementation readiness and enterprise alignment
  • Ensure solutions are designed with end-user input and cross-functional integration in mind
  • Monitor early adoption, benefit realization, and feedback loops to inform scale and sustainment decisions

Governance & Strategic Alignment

  • Represent the broader team on key enterprise governance bodies
  • Drive alignment between product investments, transformation initiatives, and IT enterprise architecture
  • Partner with Finance to support business case development and value realization tracking
  • Serve as a bridge between visionary innovation and pragmatic execution

Team Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team focused on product strategy, innovation, and solution delivery
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop team members with expertise in product management, digital health, and healthcare operations
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth within the team
  • Educate and evangelize product management and human-centered design principles across the organization to drive broader adoption and understanding

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Business, Health Administration, or related field preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare as well as digital health, product management, or innovation leadership roles with 3+ years experience with direct supervisory responsibility of similar disciplines
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-scale solution planning and implementation efforts
  • Strong understanding of healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and vendor ecosystems
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive strategy while delivering measurable outcomes
  • Experienced in using analytical approaches to balance data-driven decision making with stakeholder expectation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a transformation or innovation office within a large health system, academic medical center, large private medical practice, oncology, or integrated network
  • Familiarity with EMR, practice management, and patient engagement platforms
  • Background in product lifecycle management or vendor evaluation frameworks
  • Exposure to agile or iterative innovation methodologies
