Effective 10/1/2024, A reasonable estimate for this position is $66,737 - $80,034 (annually) or $31.97 - $38.34 (hourly). Effective 10/1/2025, A reasonable estimate for this position is $69,073 - $82,836 (annually) or $33.09 - $39.68 (hourly). Application Window Open date: August 22, 2025 Next review date: Sunday, Sep 21, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Tuesday, Jun 30, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the UC Irvine School of Medicine anticipates occasional openings for Postdoctoral Scholars/Fellows. The Postdoc conducts research under the general oversight of a faculty mentor in preparation for a career position in academia, industry, government, or the nonprofit sector. Appointments are temporary positions with fixed end dates intended to provide a full-time program of advanced academic preparation and research training. Ophthalmology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or equivalent. Interdisciplinary skills and approaches in Immunology, Microbiology, Pathology, and/or Neuroscience are strongly desired. The incumbent will be expected to perform various lab tasks and work on current research projects related to ophthalmology disease and visual sciences and/or advancements in ophthalmology and visual sciences technology. Positions are dependent on extramural funding. Postdoc positions are occasionally available throughout the year in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. All months of prior postdoc service will be counted towards the placement of the Postdoctoral Scholar at their initial experience level. The total service as a postdoctoral scholar cannot exceed five years. This includes prior postdoctoral service at other institutions (both domestic and foreign).
