Summary of Job Duties:A Pharmacy Technician IV - Automation Specialist be responsible for maintenance and optimization of the automated dispensing cabinets, pharmacy carousels, and C2 safe. This position is an upper-level technician position in the Department of Pharmacy. The employee in this position must demonstrate special skills and knowledge not required by the other pharmacy technician. The technician in this position will assist department leadership to support the goals and vision of the service line. The individual participates as an essential member of the pharmacy leadership team to address and resolve broad management/administrative issues such as planning for future programs and services, patient and staff safety, regulatory compliance, and operational monitoring Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School/GED and four (4)years of relevant pharmacy technician experience (i.e., previous hospital pharmacy experience, previous sterile compounding experience, hazardous drug handling, etc.) ORa Bachelor's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

  • Arkansas Pharmacy Technician Registration.

  • National Technician Certification(PTCB).

  • Within one year of the start date, will complete a specialized certificate program (i.e., through ASHP or PTCB).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. or higher degree.

  • ASHP/ACPE-accredited technician training.

  • Previous sterile compounding experience, hazardous drug handling, etc.

  • Previous management or team leader experience.

  • Two (2) years of UAMS pharmacy experience.

Additional Information:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ensure proper functioning of pharmacy automation (automated dispensing cabinets, carousels, C2 safe, etc.), including troubleshooting automation hardware and software issues.
  • Assists in optimizing medication pars and availability in pyxis throughout the healthcare system.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to support initiatives, including planning for future programs and services, patient and staff safety, and operational improvements.
  • Maintain accurate databases and reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
