Your role

The position will be responsible for selecting, developing and evaluating vendors/suppliers based on price, quality, logistics, capacity and performance; negotiating prices and terms with suppliers; and actively looking for ways to reduce costs while securing the best parts and services for the assembly of our products.



Responsibilities:




  • Lead the strategic purchasing of assigned commodities, collaborating closely with supply chain and quality teams. Partner with colleagues to evaluate supplier performance, conduct value analysis, and serve as a trusted connection between internal teams and external partners.



  • Work with Atlas Copco's product teams to understand specifications and inventory needs. Help shape supply strategies that balance cost efficiency, high quality, and reliable delivery - ensuring smooth logistics and on-time schedules.



  • Source and procure parts and components that support ongoing production and exciting new product development projects, in alignment with the company's forecasts and plans.



  • Partner with suppliers to uphold Atlas Copco's Business Code of Practice, ensuring a shared commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and ethical purchasing terms.



  • Build and maintain a strong, diverse network of vendors capable of delivering zero-defect parts at competitive prices, ensuring all components meet Atlas Copco's engineering and quality standards.



  • Assess current and potential suppliers using Atlas Copco's evaluation processes to confirm financial stability, technical strengths, quality performance, and cost competitiveness.



  • Contribute to the company's success by identifying opportunities for continuous cost improvements while maintaining high quality and service levels.



  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to find innovative ways to reduce total cost without compromising quality or long-term relationships.



  • Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers, and when appropriate, establish mutually beneficial supply agreements that create lasting partnerships.

Experience Requirements:


Qualifications & Skills




  • Proven experience with procurement systems and supply chain processes, with a focus on creating efficient, reliable, and collaborative workflows.



  • Strong ability to negotiate prices and terms in a way that builds positive, long-term supplier relationships.



  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints is welcomed and valued.



  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in purchasing and materials control within a manufacturing environment, contributing to both operational success and team collaboration.




Knowledge




  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, and a commitment to continuous improvement and quality excellence, is a plus.



  • Confident using Microsoft Office tools - including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - to communicate, analyze, and present ideas effectively.



  • Experience with mainframe systems such as BPCS and/or AS400 is an advantage, with openness to learning and adapting to new technologies.





Educational Requirements



* Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred, or Business, with two (2) years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in a manufacturing environment
