GENERAL SUMMARY:

Assess patient's condition, diagnoses, orders appropriate diagnostic tests, and develops treatment plans in conjunction with the Medical Oncologists to manage a cancer patient's disease and symptoms in the setting of the clinic office to assure that the delivery of quality patient care is consistent with policies and procedures. Participates in quality improvement and infection control activities. Performs duties and care in the inpatient setting as assigned.

Education & Licensure
  • PA: Completion of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) approved program (prior to January 2001 - Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs). Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.Pay range is $62.40-$98.85/hr.
  • NP: Completion of a master's, post-master's, or doctorate from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or an equivalent body is required. Pay range is $62.40-$98.85/hr.
  • Current New York State licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; prior experience in Orthopedics strongly preferred.

  • Active or eligible New York State DEA licensure required.

  • Recent clinical rotation in Orthopedics (within the last year) highly preferred.

Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Clinical Competencies
  • Skilled in conducting comprehensive medical histories, assessing medical conditions, and interpreting findings.

  • Ability to provide patient-centered care with strong knowledge of medical equipment, healthcare regulations, and organizational policies.

  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and compliance requirements.

  • Prior experience with Epic EMR highly preferred.

Qualifications
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex medical information clearly to healthcare professionals, patients, and the general public.

  • Demonstrated commitment to CVPH core values of teamwork, confidentiality, and quality care.

  • Strong decision-making ability with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency in preparing and maintaining clinical records, writing reports, and managing professional correspondence.

  • Commitment to staying current with emerging technologies, techniques, and best practices in Orthopedics.

  • Membership or affiliation with recognized Orthopedics professional organizations strongly encouraged.

  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure or emergency situations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to foster collaborative relationships with staff, patients, and external partners.

  • Willingness and ability to travel to regional and outreach facilities as needed.

  • Competency in providing age-appropriate care, with training to meet the special needs and behaviors of the patient populations served.
