Summary:

TheExecutive Director of Construction and Developmentwill be responsible for leading the team responsible for the construction and development of hospital facilities across the health care system. This role reports to the System VP of Real Estate & Development. They will plan and organize the construction and development platform and establish standards and processes to support an industry leading real estate and capital project management functionin support of the UNC Health System strategic plan.

Responsibilities:
Construction and Development: Lead a team of over 10 system wide project managers to deliver a multitude of highly complex, multi-million projects (sometimes in excess of $500M each) that are delivered in support of the approved business plan. Reviews and evaluates existing construction/development programs, services, policies and procedures. Prepares and manages construction/development budgets for current and future projects. Provides guidance, training and motivation to staff. Monitors work performance and prepare performance evaluations for personnel. Provides oversight of the health care systems design and construction relationships and agreements.

Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Construction management or related field
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* Consideration given to: CHC and/ or CHFM; PMP, PgMP, or PfMP; LEED/ WELL Building certification
Professional Experience Requirements:
* Requires ten (10) years of complex hospital construction experience, with at least seven (7) years of management experience.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
* Must have extensive knowledge of the Joint Commission, NFPA and other healthcare regulatory agencies
* Experience managing geographically dispersed team members and projects.
* Demonstrated success in the planning and implementation of large-scale programs with multi-site delivery requirements and adherence to business plan.
* Extensive experience in developing and leading high performing teams that include internal and external resources and firms.
* Experience with a full range of project delivery methodologies from Design-Bid-Build to Integrated Project Delivery.
* Demonstrated experience in selecting the proper solution for each project.
* Healthcare real estate operations and administration.
* Healthcare planning, campus planning and master facility planning experience.
* Sustainability and building performance standards experience.
* Contract and deal negotiations.
* Deep analytical skills to guide core strategic initiatives.
* Consistent professional behavior in all activities Executive and Board level communication skill.
