You will perform specialized legal support and administrative duties. This position will support Florida and Georgia. You will also support other states as needed. You will report the Legal Services Manager.

In this primarily home-based role, you will spend 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working from home, proximate to one of our office locations (within approximately 35-50 miles). On occasion you may be asked to travel to an office location for in
person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events.

Position Compensation Range:

$25.00 - $36.05

Pay Rate Type:

Hourly

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Performs research and prepares background information as requested.
  • Receives and responds to all types of inquiries and relays messages.
  • Completes task independently.
  • Manages calendars, including court and other file-related appearances, appointments, internal and external meetings.
  • Schedules and coordinates tasks for file handlers and themselves for future file-related activities and monitors the progress of those activities.
  • Performs electronic mail handling and distribution functions.
  • Screens and responds to incoming mail to relay and clarify information, coordinate file handler activities, and otherwise facilitate file handling.
  • Generates various types of legal and claims correspondence.
  • Works with file handlers to ensure delivery of documents, and other items to courts, opposing counsel, experts, and others.
  • Contacts and schedules opposing counsel, witnesses, experts, court reporters, clients, and others necessary for the coordination of investigation, discovery, depositions, meetings, independent medical examinations, and trials.
  • Performs data entry, collection of information, and review of initial materials for intake and setup of new matters.
  • Performs tasks related to payments and closing files.
  • Participates in projects and committees.
  • Leverages knowledge of electronic legal database and claim management system to support file handler.
  • Assists with training of unit employees.
  • Administers specific divisional programs, working with vendors as needed and conducts special project work as assigned.
  • Coordinates collection of claim information to respond to inquiries from other divisions.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating procedural documents and divisional contact information within systems for the division.
  • Organizing, coordinating, and performing claim administrative workflow and processing tasks, as well as understanding of the stages of litigation and the various types of legal documents within litigation.
  • May be required to complete other assignments or participate in projects based upon skills, achievements, or experience.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Education Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
  • Demonstrated experience performing legal support duties including interacting with members of the judiciary, opposing and co-counsel, clients, and expert and lay witnesses.
  • Demonstrated experience working with confidential documents and situations.
  • Demonstrated experience with various PC software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Demonstrated experience writing and proofreading legal documents for proper grammar and spelling.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of legal procedures, legal terminology, and the judicial system.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of legal ethics rules and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
