Company Description

Zayo provides mission-critical bandwidth to the world's most impactful companies, fueling the innovations that are transforming our society. Zayo's 141,000-mile network in North America and Europe includes extensive metro connectivity to thousands of buildings and data centers. Zayo's communications infrastructure solutions include dark fiber, private data networks, wavelengths, Ethernet, and dedicated Internet access. Zayo serves wireless and wireline carriers, media, tech, content, finance, healthcare and other large enterprises.

Zayo is seeking a highly analytical and strategically minded Director of Product Management to lead our Fiber to the Tower (FTTT) portfolio and drive forward high-impact Special Projects that shape our go-to-market execution and investor positioning. This role combines core product management responsibilities with the flexibility to tackle some of Zayo's most unique, complex initiatives-including custom deal structuring, fiber monetization strategies, and investor engagement.

Our Director of Product Management will play a pivotal role in accelerating revenue from one of our most operationally demanding infrastructure categories while also developing the frameworks and models needed to support executive decisions on bespoke opportunities

Key Responsibilities:

Product Ownership - Fiber to the Tower

  • Own the strategy, roadmap, and commercial performance for Zayo's Fiber to the Tower product line-including pricing, delivery, and margin optimization across thousands of tower-connected assets.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve product cost structure, standardization, and delivery speed in coordination with engineering and operations.

  • Partner with GTM teams to drive penetration and upsell opportunities within mobile network operators and infrastructure aggregators.

  • Track product KPIs including churn risk, cost-to-serve, and install timelines-flagging risks and proposing improvements.

Special Projects - Custom Deal Structuring & Financial Strategy

  • Serve as the product lead on non-standard or investor-facing opportunities, including IRR modeling, leaseback or JV structures, and long-term fiber monetization strategies.

  • Develop and maintain financial models that support strategic decision-making, pricing strategy, and investor evaluations-leveraging cost inputs, route uniqueness, and capital intensity.

  • Partner closely with corporate finance, capital management, and legal to vet and package new commercial frameworks or investment vehicles.

  • Prepare briefing materials, investor-facing product overviews, and decision memos for executive stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Manage the Fiber to the Tower Product Team

  • Collaborate deeply with engineering, network planning, finance, legal, and sales to bring structure and clarity to highly customized initiatives.

  • Bring structure to ambiguity-this role often leads "first-of-its-kind" projects that require hypothesis-driven thinking and an ability to influence without formal authority.

  • Present business cases and executive recommendations with clarity, backed by data and modeled financial impact.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or technical graduate degree preferred.

  • Experience:

    • 6-10 years of experience in product management, corporate development, or strategic finance-preferably in telecom, infrastructure, or capital-intensive technology sectors

    • Demonstrated people leadership experience

    • Proven ability to build and interpret complex financial models (NPV, IRR, payback, multi-scenario sensitivity) in Excel or other tools.

    • Strong business acumen with comfort managing both standard product line health and non-standard special initiatives.

    • Experience working on cross-functional teams involving engineering, operations, finance, and legal

  • Skills:

    • Strong leadership and team management skills.

    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.

    • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Proficiency in CRM tools and business development software.
