The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (the "Position") will conduct scientific research within the lab of Paul Thomas, Ph.D., Professor in the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division. Dr. Thomas's lab is researching innate and adaptive immunity to influenza and other respiratory viruses; T cell receptor repertoires in infection and cancer; influenza-associated immune-induced healing responses and pathology; and CD4 and CD8 T cell memory and recall potential.



Responsibilities

The Position will be involved with pursuing the major scientific research goals of Dr. Thomas's lab with a focus on studying immune resilience in the context of catastrophic diseases, including severe respiratory viral infections and cancer. In this light, the Position's specific job duties will include:

    Perform experiments in using human samples and run immunology assays including flow cytometry, single cell sequencing, and high throughput immune repertoire sequencing.
  • Analyze and synthesize data gained from experiments into conclusions.
  • Study the adaptive immune response to a variety of vaccine, infection-associated, and self antigens encountered by subjects with severe infections and/or undergoing cancer treatments.
  • Build on medical expertise in T cell receptor specificity analysis, to define features of effective and ineffective antigen targets and develop in vitro and in vivo models to test features of diverse immune specificities.
  • Participate and engage in institutional, division, and the lab's principal investigator's laboratory seminars and meetings.
  • Write scientific articles, make presentations, and attend national and international scientific conferences to share research findings.
  • Supervise and assist in the training of graduate or undergraduate students.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. or higher degree in a closely related field of study or the equivalent.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $77,976 to $95,014, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
