HJF is seeking a Research Nurseto monitor the execution of clinical research associated with specific projects. Ensures that all necessary steps are taken towards safety provisions and all regulations are adhered.

This position will be in support of NCAA/DoD Concussion Assessment Research and Education Consortium project supporting the Center for Rehabilitation Sciences Research at the Intrepid Spirit Center at Fort Hood, TX.

  • Oversees the implementation of the study as a subject matter expert and ensures compliance with relevant requirements.
  • Administers clinical assessments and physical exams in accordance with the research protocol.
  • Conducts suicide risk assessments.
  • Assesses and reports adverse events and communicates clinical findings to participants.
  • Ensures accurate documentation, study records, and data management.
  • Works closely with PI to submit protocol applications and supporting documentation to local Institutional Review Board (IRB). Ensures that all amendments, continuing reviews and adverse events have been submitted to the IRB.
  • Assists study coordinator with project administration, including recruitment, scheduling participants and coordinating with other clinical services.
  • Verifies and corrects data entry for research projects, supports senior staff in quality control and provides troubleshooting.
  • Assists the team on program/project improvement initiatives and may provide support the development, reporting and analysis of study/ program performance through relevant metrics.
  • Contributes to poster/ presentations/ manuscript development.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Previous human subjects research experience.
  • Desire and interest to work in the traumatic brain injury research field. (Background in brain injury, neurology, or similar topic is a preference).
  • Previous experience with military or government research is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with military populations is preferred.
  • May participate in drawing participant blood as needed.
  • General understanding of how research studies are conducted and be able to provide support to the development, reporting, analysis, and summarizing of studies.
  • Able to support meetings with internal and external partners. This includes the selection and recruitment of presenters and topics, reviewing and or creating presentations, facilitating and monitoring meetings, creating summary documents, and dissemination of information.
  • Able to coordinate document submissions, create and maintain accurate records, and communicate well with the network, HQ, Gov, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform and understand data collection, document review/quality control checks, basic data interpretation, literature review, preparing and presenting summaries to the group.
  • Able to contribute to posters, presentations, manuscript development.
  • Familiarity with IRB activities and Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background clearance.


Licenses and Certifications



  • RN, certification as CCRC or CCRP preferred.
  • Ability to obtain Registered Nurse status in the state of Texas.


Physical Capabilities



  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.


Work Environment



  • This position will take place primarily in a clinical setting.


Compensation



  • The annual salary range for this position is $73,800 - 90,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
