Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Seminar Facilitator for the Center for Government Services. This position will represent Rutgers University and the NJ Department of Community Affairs (
DCA), Bureau of Code Services at Uniform Construction Code (
UCC) seminars scheduled online and in locations throughout the state. Reports to the Center for Government Services and the Sr. Program Coordinator.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Online seminars:
- Contacts instructors prior to the seminars to provide login information for the online learning platform and assists with the uploading of materials if necessary.
- Opens the training session in the online learning platform so that students may enter the seminar.
- Creates Rutgers/DCA policies and procedures regarding seminar attendance and student conduct known to the participants.
- Troubleshoots login, audio and other technological issues that may arise for the instructor and/or students.
- Answers simple student questions regarding the licensing process or referring students to the appropriate source of information (Rutgers or DCA).
- Monitors student attendance throughout the seminar.
- Monitors the seminar attendee list and chat box for questions and informing the instructor when necessary.
- Mutes microphones for attendees when necessary (i.e., if there is background noise or feedback that is disrupting the seminar).
In-person seminars:
- Arrives to the training site before seminar starts to make sure the room is set according to the Rutgers specifications and coffee is served.
- Sets up the audio visual equipment according to the Rutgers specifications
- Delivers and distributes seminar handouts.
- Conducts student check-in
- Collects checks from paid students.
- Stamps students' certificates at the conclusion of the seminar.
- Collects CEU cards and evaluations at the end of the seminar.
- Answers simple student questions regarding the licensing process or referring students to the appropriate source of information (Rutgers or DCA).
- Reports back to the office on the seminar and returns completed check-in sheets, CEU cards and evaluation forms.

The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. (Department Head approval required via attached form or
ROCS)
Please select the appropriate flexible work arrangement (
FWA) for the position. FWAs that require only Department Head approval may be recorded directly in the normal
ROCS approval process so long as the Department Head is the Authorizer 2 or other role in the
ROCS approval process. No additional steps are needed for these requests. The fully remote
FWA requires additional approvals and cannot be recorded in the normal

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and/or clerical experience.

Certifications/Licenses |
- A valid driver's license would be required for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Must be reliable.
- Strong familiarity with internet applications (Chrome, Firefox, Explorer, etc.) and virtual learning platforms.
- Ability to present in front of large audiences.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Past experience with the Uniform Construction Code.

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Special Conditions |
- Must be available to work during fall and spring semesters (September-December and March-June) and up to 4 consecutive days a week (34 hours).
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle or other dependable means of transportation.
- Must travel to central office (New Brunswick) to pick up and drop off materials when necessary; for in-person facilitation at training locations; and with an occasional overnight stay.
- Clean Driving Record.
