Job Purpose

This position will primarily support the Engineering & Production departments of Sumter Metal Products. Our goal is to produce high-quality metal fabricated assemblies in an efficient and cost-effective manner, while ensuring on-time delivery of products to our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in Engineering and Direct Materials Purchasing.
  • Processing customer purchase orders / production orders from SAP.
  • Utilize nesting software and Cam Software Maintenance.
  • Creating database assemblies in programming software, checking for accuracy and accountability.
  • Assist in gathering, organizing, and analyzing data relating to Engineering-sponsored projects...including prototype builds, new products, and new process introduction.
  • Provide technical assistance, as needed, to Management, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, and other members of the Sumter Metals Team.
  • Nesting of metal parts or assemblies on a daily basis using Magestic/TruNest Software
  • CNC or Machine operational knowledge, Laser Programming experience preferred.
  • Other functions and responsibilities as deemed necessary
Qualifications

The successful candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • EDUCATION and/ or EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of fabricating experience involving machine operation, welding, reading and interpreting drawings, basic AutoCad/Solid Works/Cam Nesting Software knowledge and exposure, and above average computer skills in Microsoft Office Software.
General Job Requirements
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime.
  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment. Therefore, expect varying working conditions.
