Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek. Probationary period will not apply to shift changes. SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Operating Room Attendant assists the Staff Nurse in the care of the patient. Assists in meeting basic physical and psychological needs of the patients and their families. Assists in meeting the environmental needs of the unit and contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit. The OR Attendant performs various patient care activities for surgical services such as transporting patients to and from the operating room, lifting and positioning patients on stretchers, delivering specimens to the laboratory, and greeting patients and families. Performs related work as required and/or assigned by the Registered Professional Nurse. SCHEDULE: 11 PM-7:30 AM. Nights, alternate weekends. EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: High School graduate or equivalent required. Must be able to exert force frequently. *One year of hospital work experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience required.
