NaphCare has an excellent opportunity for a Pharmacist to join our Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham, AL. The Pharmacist provides clinical review of medication orders and is responsible for multi-disciplinary communication relative to the review of patient information. The individual in this position is also responsible for reviewing and documenting the accuracy of prescription medications that have been re-packaged for distribution.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

    Conduct and manage formulary reviews, including prior authorization evaluations and appeals management
  • Provide comprehensive drug information and communicate effectively with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes
  • Stay up-to-date on current clinical guidelines, drug trends and regulatory requirements impacting formulary and medication management
  • Perform prescription verification and dispensing duties accurately and efficiently, in compliance with state and federal regulations, pharmacy best practices, and facility protocols.
  • Provide oversight and fulfillment of all medication dispensing processes, including packaging, labeling, inventory control, and delivery coordination.
  • Support medication therapy management by reviewing orders for appropriateness and communicating with providers regarding potential interactions or discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and other team members to ensure timely and accurate medication distribution and to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of medications dispensed and clinical activities to ensure compliance with internal protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Respond to inquiries from healthcare providers regarding medication availability, administration guidelines, and substitution options.
  • Participate in quality assurance and medication safety initiatives, contributing to continuous improvement of pharmacy services.
  • Agree to perform any other related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope of their role and professional licensure.


Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution;
  • Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in Alabama;
  • Strong Clinical Pharmacy expertise
  • Ability and willingness to obtain licensure in additional states as needed to support operations;
  • Demonstrated accuracy, dependability, and efficiency in a high-volume dispensing environment;
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with healthcare professionals and team members;
  • Familiarity with pharmacy automation and electronic health record (EHR) systems is preferred;
  • Willingness to be trained and cross-trained in other pharmacy functions or shifts as needed.

Preferred Experience

  • Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY-1) preferred
  • Management experience preferred
