WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Are you a dynamic, mission-driven leader ready to make a meaningful impact in your community? The American Red Cross is seeking a Regional Executive to lead and inspire teams, drive strategic initiatives, and serve as the face of our organization across a vibrant region.

Ready to Lead with Purpose? As the Central California Regional Executive, you will oversee the achievement of core mission delivery across multiple service lines including disaster response, biomedical services, volunteer engagement, communications, and fundraising (under $15M annually). You'll serve as a key community leader, building strong relationships with donors, media, blood sponsors, and civic organizations while ensuring the American Red Cross remains a trusted and visible presence.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD:
  • Strategic Leadership: Deliver regional goals across service delivery, workforce engagement, biomed support, revenue, and expense. Ensure compliance with governance policies and regulations.
  • Fundraising Partnership: Collaborate with division fundraising leadership to develop and execute strategies that grow financial resources.
  • Community Engagement: Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, government entities, and nonprofit partners. Represent the Red Cross in media and public forums.
  • Operational Excellence: Lead regional staff and chapter leaders in a matrixed environment. Ensure high-quality, timely service delivery and program execution.
  • Volunteer Development: Build and support a diverse, engaged volunteer workforce. Guide volunteer boards and community leaders to advance advocacy, fundraising, and service delivery.
  • Visibility & Communications: Drive regional awareness through media and social media aligned with national strategies.
  • Youth Engagement: Integrate Red Cross Clubs and youth programs into regional service delivery plans.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred in public administration, nonprofit management, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years in business, sales, or nonprofit leadership;
  • Management: 5 years in workforce and program management.
  • Skills:
    • Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams.
    • Strong public speaking, writing, and influencing skills.
    • Strategic thinker with sound judgment in complex situations.
    • Demonstrated success in fundraising and resource development.
    • Collaborative mindset and ability to build consensus.

Travel: Regular travel required. This role may be eligible for relocation.

*Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

The salary range for this position is (CA): $177,000-$192,000. You will be eligible to participate in an incentive plan based on annual individual and organization performance.

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.

Physical Requirements Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods of time. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.
