ISO New England is the independent system operator responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity in our region and planning for the future of the electric grid. We are at the forefront of New England's ongoing transition to clean energy.

We have an important role to play in securing the regions clean and reliable energy future and seek folks from a variety of disciplines to join us! In this role, you will support the electricity industry stakeholder committees as part of the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL) Relations group in our Participant Relations & Services (PR&S) team. PR&S provides a wide-range of business support, training, and information for participants in New England's wholesale electricity markets and power system, from resolving individual technical questions to delivering big picture project plans.



The NEPOOL Relations group manages the regional stakeholder processes and committees through which new initiatives are vetted with participants, and solutions to regional energy challenges are collaboratively considered. Through the NEPOOL committees, the ISO advances proposed changes to its central functions of administering wholesale markets and reliably planning for and operating the power system, while complying with applicable laws and regulations. Those representing ISO New England in the committees' leadership roles are vital to ensuring a positive and productive working relationship with the ISO's Market Participants, as well other industry stakeholders.

How you will make an impact:



  • Coordinate stakeholder activity more broadly within the NEPOOL Relations group and with internal business units to ensure the ISO's external positioning is clear, constructive, and consistent
  • Support the NEPOOL Relations management team by identifying areas of interest to stakeholders and preparing logistical requirements for committee meetings
  • Maintains and develops the department's business procedure documents, business continuity plan, and records retention policy
  • Support material development, drafting, review, and finalizing
  • Serve as Secretary for a key NEPOOL working group and subcommittee
  • Support development of industry and ISO site visits
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary development teams on change initiatives and provide support to internal project leads on larger scope initiatives
  • Attend meetings and review, post, distribute, and maintain committee materials and records
  • Track and assist with accurate responses to stakeholder inquiries
  • Become trained and available for cross-functional support across the department, as needed



What you need to be successful in this role:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Business, Engineering, Economics, Operations and Information Management, Public Policy, Legal Studies, Regulatory Affairs, or other relevant major
  • Strong technical writing and copy editing experience
  • Ability to work on a number of projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholder/client relationships
  • Desired but not required:


    • An advanced degree
    • 5+ years of related experience
    • Demonstrated success working with stakeholders and/or with state and federal regulatory processes
    • Broad experience in and understanding of the electricity industry with prior experience in one of the following preferred: Transmission, Distribution, or Power Systems; Economics; Regulatory Law; or Government Affairs and Public Policy
    • Prior experience with Asana or other project management software
