POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing and Fan Experience for a variety of Varsity Sports Programs. This position will report to the Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing and Fan Experience and will serve as the primary marketing contact with management of all efforts and initiatives for Women's Volleyball, Football Block Party, and Student Engagement for the Department. They will also directly supervise interns overseeing the marketing initiatives for Women's Gymnastics, Men's Gymnastics, and Men's Volleyball.

The primary duties for this position will include:

  • Produce first-class game presentations to create memories for fans and student-athletes for assigned sports. This includes script writing, videoboard production, music coordination, as well as theme/promotion development and execution.
  • Generate revenue opportunities for the department through the Beaver Stadium Block Party activations at each home football game.
  • Lead and foster student engagement opportunities for the entire athletic marketing department to drive student attendance and overall participation at our events.
  • Assist in the hiring, training, and supervision of any marketing employees as well as direct supervision of marketing interns.
  • Work with other external units - strategic communications, creative services, ticketing, sponsorship - to ensure all deliverables for each program are met.
  • Utilize a growth mindset and innovation to provide feedback, make recommendations on new policies, procedures, programs, and services for continual financial improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate should have knowledge of athletic marketing and promotions, ticket sales, community relations, social media, in-game management, and be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously successfully and efficiently. Because of the nature of athletic schedules, the selected candidate may be required to work flexible hours to meet the various demands of the operation. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral, as well as exceptional customer service skills are essential for this position.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $46,400.00 - $67,300.00.
