Description

Join Mascoma Bank in our passion for innovation and drive for growth by joining our subsidiary Mascoma Technologies as a Principal Software Architect!

The Principal Software Architect must have extensive knowledge of software development practices and banking practices, and will use that knowledge and experience to create functional, elegant, and maintainable solutions to complex technical challenges.

The Principal Software Architect must also be able to do both hands-on Python development, high-level design, and architecture for the team. The software developed and/or architected by the Principal Software Architect, in collaboration with the Software Development team, will enable Mascoma Technologies to meet rapidly growing business needs and maintain a technical competitive advantage in the financial industry. They will take direction from the Director of Software Engineering and may at times be relied upon to provide insight and mentorship to more junior team members.

Requirements
  • Participate in team planning sessions concerning the creation or modification of software.
  • Coordinate with product management, software development, stakeholders, and the Director or Software Engineering in defining project scope and approaches.
  • Write code (independently or with team members) that is clean, robust, and maintainable.
  • Write automated tests (independently or with team members) to ensure continued proper functioning of software.
  • Log work, decisions, and other relevant information in team tracking software.
  • Participate in code review sessions. Give and receive feedback and suggestions in a respectful and team-oriented manner.

  • Adheres to and upholds all written policies and procedures of Mascoma Bank, including BSA/CIP and OFAC monitoring and reporting, security, operation, and personnel policies.

Work Location: This position can be performed remote within our VT, NH and ME market areas.

What You Bring

  • Experience consistent with 7+ years of professional software development and architecture in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of software development concepts and practices.
  • Strong understanding of how design decisions may impact performance, security, scalability, and maintainability of an application.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts.
  • Expert familiarity with Python and/or Java.
  • Experience with front-end and server-side application development.
  • Experience with REST API development, git version control system and writing automated tests.
  • Ability to work autonomously, stay on timeline, and participate in frequent team meetings.
  • Ability to take general functionality requirements and use experience, best practices, and clarifying questions to implement them effectively in code.
  • Passion for learning new things and applying them to create a better product.
  • Great, positive attitude and likes to work with people on a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of customer information.
