The Foundation

We are the largest nonprofitfighting poverty, disease, and inequity around the world. Founded on a simple premise: people everywhere, regardless of identity or circumstances, should have the chance to live healthy, productive lives. We believe our employees should reflect the rich diversity of the global populations we aim to serve. We provide an exceptional benefits package to employees and their families which include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with no premiums, generous paid time off, paid family leave, foundation-paid retirement contribution, regional holidays, and opportunities to engage in several employee communities. As a workplace, we're committed to creating an environment for you to thrive both personally and professionally.

The Team

The Gender Equality Division's mission is to ensure women and girls in Africa and South Asia can enjoy good health, make their own choices, earn their own money, and be leaders in their societies. When women and girls have an equal chance to thrive and lead, everyone benefits. We know that women and girls are not a monolith. A woman's experience and the barriers she faces are different depending on factors like where she lives, how old she is, and how much money her family has-alongside other factors including her race, caste, and education level. We seek to address these compounding barriers through deep partnership with our grantees. As a philanthropy, our role is to listen to and learn from these experts. We take risks in new areas, prove concepts, and bring these ideas to governments, partner organizations, and private sector companies to scale. The Gender Equality Division builds off our existing strengths as a foundation in areas like global health and data, partnering closely with all our global divisions.

The Maternal, Newborn, Child Nutrition & Health (MNCNH) Team is responsible for an end-to-end approach focused on product discovery, development, introduction, and scale of novel and existing high impact products for women, adolescent girls, and children in low-resource settings. Our approach targets underlying biological vulnerability and seeks to intervene as early as possible in the life-course. We fund development on a core set of products that range in type (including drugs, foods, microbes, risk algorithms, and devices), technical risk (from novel concepts to product substitutions), and development phase (from early discovery to late-stage efficacy testing and implementation research). We also support launch and introduction planning of a subset of our core products that are further in the development process to accelerate country adoption and uptake in the global architecture and drive impact at scale. These products target pregnancy risk, maternal undernutrition, prematurity, neonatal encephalopathy, child wasting, child neurodevelopment and maternal morbidity. Our team is multidisciplinary and includes physician scientists with backgrounds in obstetrics and pediatrics, perinatal epidemiologists, and professionals in neurodevelopment, nutrition research, engineering, global health, strategy development and industry-experienced market and commercialization experts. We emphasize in-country partnership to integrate the local context into research and development.

You will work closely with Program Officers, Senior Program Officers, and Deputy Directors to ensure high-impact delivery of a wide range of innovations. This position will report to the Deputy Director, Drugs & Clinical Development.

This is an ideal role for a mission-driven systems thinker with strong product development experience and a passion for improving maternal and child health outcomes. If you thrive in complex, cross-functional environments and enjoy turning vision into execution, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

Strategic Portfolio Integration and Planning

  • Shape and update execution plans aligned with MNCNH strategy and goals (e.g., maternal mortality reduction, improved nutrition outcomes).
  • Coordinate annual planning processes, portfolio reviews, and strategic course corrections.
  • Synthesize technical and operational insights for internal and external audiences, translating complexity into actionable recommendations.

Cross-Team Execution and Systems Integration

  • Drive systems-level coherence across product types, workstreams, and team functions.
  • Identify synergies, reduce fragmentation, and champion harmonized execution approaches across product development and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with other Foundation teams to co-develop and implement integrated product development plans.
  • Lead the use of shared planning frameworks (e.g., PDID) and project management tools for cross-portfolio transparency.
  • Track key performance indicators, mitigate emerging risks, and facilitate course correction when needed.

Grant and Investment Management

  • Co-lead or directly manage select grants or contracts, with a focus on high-impact or cross-cutting product development or digital health platforms.
  • Oversee investment planning, milestone tracking, budget alignment, and adaptive implementation strategies.
  • Engage partners regularly to ensure execution discipline, identify challenges, and facilitate learning.
  • Lead end-to-end grant processes where appropriate, from proposal review to reporting and closure.

Operational and Organizational Excellence

  • Partner with Strategy, Planning & Management functions to ensure rigorous financial planning and portfolio execution.
  • Support the rollout and continuous improvement of shared tools and systems to enhance decision-making and cross-team coordination.
  • Model and reinforce best practices in integration, accountability, and team-wide alignment.

Your Experience

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in management, science, medicine, or engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategy, operations, or program delivery-preferably in biotech, pharma, health R&D, digital health, or adjacent sectors.
  • 5+ years of experience managing drug or biologics R&D efforts through various product lifecycle stages (e.g., discovery, IND/NDA, commercialization).
  • Proven success in portfolio/platform oversight and cross-functional program integration.
  • Strong grant or investment management experience, ideally within complex global health ecosystems.
  • Adept in strategic planning, performance management, and risk mitigation across multiple workstreams.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and partnership-building skills.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, matrixed environments with diverse stakeholders and changing priorities.
  • Experience in global development or health systems is a plus.
  • Comfortable in a wide range of cultural, geographic and operational situations, demonstrating culturally sensitive behavior with a diverse range of people and a deep commitment to development issues and high standards of personal integrity.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% (regionally and globally).
  • High integrity, collaborative mindset, and proactive problem-solving orientation.
