Finance Data Engineer

SUMMARY: The purpose of the Finance Data Engineer is to serve as the go to person for creating, maintaining and optimizing sources of financial and instrument data to serve as sources for key customers in reporting, planning and analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.



  • Curate the data management infrastructure for the finance team to drive automation in data integration and management.
  • Design, create and maintain data pipelines for reporting and planning purposes.
  • Partner with IT department to build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, Python, PySpark, and AWS 'big data' technologies.
  • Identify data sources for new projects.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for Axiom data structures and system data processing.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for financial data workflows, mapping and data translation.
  • Drive automation through effective metadata management.
  • Support Workday and Salesforce ETL integrations for Axiom.
  • Support reporting and general analytics needs of the department.
  • Utilize python and other programming language to expand the connection between Axiom and external servers such as Informatica and AWS cloud.
  • Work closely with Product Owners of Deposits and Loans.
  • Monitor schema changes for key source systems for deposits, loans, and general ledger.
  • Recommend integration optimizations as identified.
  • Streamline reporting using Axiom and other tools of opportunity.


SENIOR LEVEL RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Work with ETL team and with business (data) analysts to refine their data requirements for various data and analytics initiatives.
  • Propose appropriate (and innovative) data ingestion, preparation, integration, and operationalization techniques.
  • Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
  • Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
  • Identifies and reports suspicious activity.


EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree Finance, Accounting or Computer Science required.

EXPERIENCE



  • 1 - 3 years Corporate Finance or Accounting required.
  • 1 - 3 years Database management, including data extraction required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES



  • Designs database, table structures and ETL definitions.
  • Maintains visibility into database interfaces and monitors systems configuration to ensure and assist in the validation of data integrity.
  • Writes and executes ETL code, primarily complex SQL stored procedures, but with a strong ability to leverage other technologies.
