Senior Linux Systems Administrator (Systems Administration, Senior Analyst)

Summary

The MIL Corporationis seeking ahighly qualified and self-motivatedSeniorLinux Systems Administrator (Systems Administration, Senior Analyst)to support the Department of Defense (DoD) National Cyber Range Complex (NCRC). This facility supports the mission to provide realistic cybersecurity environments for test and evaluation of major DoD acquisition programs and to enable the conduct of realistic training and certification events for the DoD Cyber Mission Force. The NCRC facility may also support non-DoD customers such as Department of Homeland Security (DHS), industry, academia, and international partners. The successful candidate will serve at the Patuxent Naval Air Station, MD site.

This position currently requires an on-site schedule, with 5 days on-site and is eligible for Compressed Work Schedule (CWS). Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support network infrastructure & virtual server environments (cisco routers, switches, firewalls, & VPN's, servers, storage area networks, & VMware) and troubleshoot, install, implement, and administer network systems.
• Ensure planned testing activities are executed, develop network security guidelines, and configure network equipment.
• Install, update, and configure Linux based operating systems and software in both physical and virtual environments.
• Install, update, and maintain server related hardware.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues resulting in poor performance or crashing.
• Ensure systems remain compliant with baseline requirements.
• Create, update, and maintain technical documentation.

Travel

10% - 15% to other sites as needed

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of experience supporting virtualization environments such as VMWare, VirtualBox, Proxmox, Nutanix
• Strong knowledge of system administration processes, procedures, and principles
• Experience with remote deployment and configuration tools such as Ansible, Puppet, and Chef
• Must possess DoD 8570.1 IAT II baseline certification or be able to obtain within 6 months of starting
• Strong background in Microsoft Office Suite and MS Visio
• Record of success in contributing to the completion of programs and projects; ability to obtain results and make key recommendations
• Ability to provide high level summary of results and draw conclusions based on interpretation of data
• Optical networking technology and engineering experience
• Satellite communications engineeringexperience

Desired Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master's) in science and technology related disciplines such as Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, and Computer Engineering, or equivalent
• Possess a Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent certification
• Strong ability to use software to develop drawings and diagrams such as network diagrams, entity relationship diagrams, data flow diagrams

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education and/or advanced certification.

For this position, the projected compensation range is $90,000 - $145,000 per year. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL's complete compensation package.
