This role is being considered at the Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer level.

This position will report to the Senior Manager, TD&L Capital and will have overall responsibility to lead complex projects in the Terminals group with a wide array of stakeholders. You will work as a subject matter expert - ensuring all project work is carried out in a safe manner, on time, and within budget while ensuring that all applicable technical requirements of Nutrien's Distribution Terminals are met. In addition, working with the Process Engineer, you will support the implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC) standards at Nutrien's terminals as they relate to capital projects.

What you will do:



  • Lead and oversee the development, engineering, and execution of simple to complex projects including: oversight of engineering firms, vendor identification and selection, collaboration with internal and external subject matter experts, and construction firms.
  • Champion safety in all project work, ensuring adherence with Nutrien safety policies, Life Critical Standards and in accordance with the Nutrien Way.
  • Lead a diverse group of stakeholders and contributors to define and complete complex capital projects using Nutrien's Project Management Process including stage gate approvals, AFE requests and project management tools.
  • Responsible for all aspects of project management including the overall project development, execution, scheduling, cost control, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Facilitate the Management of Change process on projects, conducting project design review meetings and ensuring all necessary safety and technical reviews have been completed prior to project execution.
  • Execute projects in accordance with established RAGAGEPs, Nutrien Policies, and Industry Standards.
  • Apply engineering knowledge, experience, and techniques in several engineering disciplines in order to meet project and stakeholder needs.
  • Provide mentorship and training to other project engineers, terminal personnel, and technical staff.
  • Serve as the lead point of contact for the capital group to work with the Nutrien Engineering, Technical and Capital group and Continuous Improvement Teams, including being the primary stakeholder representative.
  • Deliver concise and informative project updates to a broad group, including senior leadership and the Commercial team.
  • Travel 25%-50% to support project progress on site at the terminal and warehouse sites.



What you will bring:



  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree in an engineering discipline, with preference given to Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with Environmental, Health, and Safety issues (OSHA - PSM regulation) in the chemical/fertilizer industry, P&ID/technical drawing knowledge and application.
  • Experience with Oracle, SAP or Planisware for project management, materials procurement, project cost tracking, etc.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • A track record of personal development and teamwork.
  • 3-8 years of engineering, maintenance, project, and/or operations experience in chemical processing, manufacturing, or a heavy industrial site.
  • Candidates with a minimum of 6 years of relevant will be considered for the Senior Project Engineer; those with less than 6 years will be considered for a Project Engineer role which would include the responsibilities outlined above but with additional guidance and mentorship.


Compensation & Benefits:

The salary range for this role, in Loveland, CO, is between $87,000 - $164,100. While we provide this range as general guidance, several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, candidate skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications, work location, and other business and organizational needs. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.
