Description

The Principal Cybersecurity & Compliance Engineer will lead efforts across compliance, systems administration, endpoint and infrastructure support, enterprise security operations, and user lifecycle management. You'll guide architectural decisions, mentor junior staff, and strengthen HawkEye 360's cyber and IT resilience by combining technical expertise with security best practices.

As the Principal Cybersecurity & Compliance Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:

• Ensure organizational compliance with NIST 800-171 and CMMC requirements by conducting gap analyses, developing system security plans (SSPs), and implementing required controls.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain audit readiness, track remediation efforts, and support continuous monitoring aligned with evolving CMMC maturity levels. Provide Tier 3 support for complex IT and helpdesk issues
• Lead deployment and maintenance of user systems (macOS, Windows, Linux), network infrastructure, and external SaaS platforms.
• Manage security platforms including Email, Network, Endpoint, and Identity Security.
• Monitor SIEM for threats and lead incident response and remediation
• Lead implementation of new IT and security initiatives
• Document IT standards, configurations, and support procedures

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential education and experience:

• Degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
• 7+ years of enterprise IT and cybersecurity experience
• Experience supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux systems
• Expertise administering Office 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Azure AD)
• Strong knowledge of identity systems (Okta, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra)
• Hands-on experience with security tools (Proofpoint, EDR, MDM, centralized logging)
• Experience designing and managing network infrastructure (switches, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs)
• Proven ability to lead incident response and root cause analysis
• U.S. Citizenship

Desirable:

• Experience in defense, aerospace, or national security environments
• Familiarity with GCC High or FedRAMP systems
• Deep understanding of NIST 800-171/800-53 compliance frameworks
• Experience configuring Microsoft Defender, Purview, and M365 compliance tools
• Knowledge of securing SaaS platforms (Salesforce, RingCentral, Atlassian) with SSO/MFA
• Experience mentoring junior IT staff and leading technical projects
• Current DoD 8570-compliant certification (CISSP, Security+, or CISM)

Base Salary Range: $170,000 - $200,000 annually

HawkEye 360 offers a compensation package that includes a competitive base salary plus annual performance bonus and benefits. We consider many factors when determining salary offers, such as candidate's work experience, education, training & skills, as well as market and business considerations.
