Sales Representative - Exploration and E&I Tooling, Northwest US

Job Overview

Boart Longyear is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Product Sales Representative - Exploration & E&I Tooling to support and expand our business across the Northwestern United States. This role is responsible for managing key customer relationships, developing account strategies, and driving revenue growth across exploration drilling, coring, and E&I tooling product lines through a combination of direct and channel sales efforts.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of exploration drilling environments and customer workflows, and bring a proactive, data-driven approach to sales execution. This is a remote-based role; candidates must reside in a major city within the Northwestern U.S. region to be considered.

Travel Requirements: This is a field-based role supporting exploration drilling, mining, and investigation projects across the Northwestern U.S. region. Requires up to 70% travel to customer sites, trade events, and Boart Longyear locations.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement & Relationship Management



  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with exploration drilling contractors, mining companies, geotechnical firms, and procurement teams.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on exploration and E&I tooling solutions Sales Growth & Territory Management
  • Manage an assigned sales territory with accountability for revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and market share across exploration and E&I tooling portfolios.
  • Identify new business opportunities within greenfield and brownfield exploration programs. Technical Support & Application Guidance
  • Provide onsite technical support related to exploration drilling, coring systems, downhole tools, and E&I applications.
  • Support customers with product selection, application optimization, and troubleshooting. Field Demonstrations & Trials
  • Conduct product demonstrations and oversee field trials to validate tooling performance, productivity, and cost-effectiveness in exploration environments. Reporting & Forecasting
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, track customer activity, and provide monthly sales forecasts and territory performance reports. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with product management, engineering, and operations teams to relay customer feedback, support continuous improvement, and align market needs with product development.
  • All Other Reasonable Duties as Assigned


Key Skills & Competencies



  • Technical Sales Acumen: Ability to understand exploration drilling programs and align tooling solutions to customer objectives.
  • Exploration Drilling Knowledge: Familiarity with diamond coring, RC, geotechnical, or investigation drilling applications.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical discussions, customer engagement, and internal reporting.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to diagnose field challenges and propose effective, practical solutions.
  • Self-Motivation: Proven ability to operate independently in a remote, field-based sales role.
  • CRM Proficiency: Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM platforms for opportunity management and forecasting.
  • Negotiation & Influence: Ability to engage decision makers, manage commercial discussions, and close sales professionally.


Qualifications

Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Business, or a related field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.

Experience:



  • Minimum 2-5 years of technical sales or field experience within exploration drilling, mining services, geotechnical drilling, or related industrial sectors.
  • Experience with exploration drilling tools, coring systems, downhole tooling, or E&I-related products strongly preferred.
  • Prior exposure to field-based customer support in remote or active drilling environments is an asset.


Languages: English required; Spanish proficiency is a plus.

Physical and Environmental Conditions



  • Work Environment: Primarily field-based across mine and drilling sites; may include occasional shop, warehouse, or remote office work.
  • Lifting Requirements: Occasional lifting of equipment or product samples up to 50 lbs may be required during field visits and demonstrations.
  • Other Requirements: Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the U.S. without restriction.
