Position Overview

Green Bay Packaging Mill Division is seeking a shipping supervisor to supervise all functions of the automated warehouse facility which receives product from the on-site paper machine and services all customers of Green Bay Packaging with paper roll stock.


Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with all required safety, regulatory, environmental and company programs, including federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Supervising warehouse activities to include accurate and timely shipment of all outbound products and receipt of purchased roll stock.
  • Reviewing timeliness of scheduled deliveries and resolving issues regarding deliveries and load conditions.
  • Managing planning and dispatching outbound shipments.
  • Monitoring consumable supplies and order replacements in a timely manner while monitoring expenditures.
  • Monitoring facility equipment and ensuring the equipment is properly maintained.
  • Developing good working relationships with all company personnel, such as Production, Sales, and Maintenance, with Converting Plant customers, other outside customers, Vendor/Trade Partners, with trucking and rail providers and with outside maintenance contacts.
  • Optimizing workflow, identifying warehouse system improvements, resolving issues, and promoting an overall culture of continuous improvement with clerical and operational staff.
  • Managing staffing, scheduling, job expectations, as well as developing and monitoring goals.
  • Lead, train, and mentor warehouse staff including the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of training programs.
  • Identify and document existing processes along with regular reviews and updates of procedures to maintain accuracy and relevancy.
  • Developing a good working knowledge of all operational components, such as the warehouse management system, conveyors, 3rd-party roll intake station, truck-mounted tablets, etc. to be able to identify issues and troubleshoot accordingly.
  • Identifying inventory issues and working with appropriate personnel to resolve any problems.
  • Using reporting tools to track production, performance standards and any other significant KPIs.
  • Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications, and completing company-directed training.
  • Performing related duties as assigned by the warehouse superintendent.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or related field. Previous experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience working with truck and rail suppliers and general logistics knowledge.
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written. Able to deal effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the telephone.
  • Working knowledge of government regulations pertaining to warehouse operations.
  • General knowledge of warehouse management software applications and computer capabilities. Experience with Microsoft suite applications helpful.
  • Analytical ability to handle supervisor and administrative duties to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities. Possess ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to analyze data and develop action plans based on the analysis.


In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following:



  • Formal training or education in warehouse operations.
  • Five years of shipping/logistics experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Strong supervisory skills and the ability to work with and through others to achieve desired results with safety always in the forefront.
  • Working knowledge of material handling equipment and general warehousing operations.
