The Impact You Will Have Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is hiring a Behavioral Health Care Advisor to support Substance Use Disorders in Minnesota. This role is a critical component of the BCBSMN Care Management team. Behavioral Health Care Advisors will provide clinical approaches that will serve and support members from marginalized communities. The Behavioral Health Care Advisor role will help members discover their strengths and develop unique recovery goals. These services aim to assist individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges by providing culturally sensitive support. This role requires a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state of Minnesota with psychiatric experience, or a Behavioral Health Professional who is a clinician licensed for independent practice in Minnesota with an active, unrestricted license as an LMFT, LICSW, LP, or LPCC. A Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) is strongly preferred. Your Responsibilities
- Receives referral and/or reaches-out to member and leverages clinical knowledge, motivational interviewing and behavioral modification techniques.
- Conducts comprehensive clinical assessments; gathers, analyzes, synthesizes and prioritizes member needs and opportunities.
- Collaborates and communicates with member, family, or designated representative on a plan of care that produces positive clinical results and promotes high-quality effective outcomes.
- Serves as a member advocate by identifying underlying needs and facilitates referrals to external resources and services in the health care system, as appropriate.
- Independently assesses member's needs, gathers accurate and comprehensive member information, and research resources and assistance programs that may be available to members in multiple states and across all lines of business. Match these resources as appropriate to support needs of members.
- Identify resource gaps internally or for the member, health plan or provider coverage needs, and raise gaps to leadership as appropriate.
- Monitors and evaluates plan of care over time.
- Ensures member data is documented according to BCBSMN application protocol an regulatory standards. Maintains a strict standard of confidentiality to ensure that our members protected health information (PHI) is secure.
- Engage providers telephonically in reviewing and understanding treatment plans, including alignment with benefits and medical reimbursement policies to facilitate optimal treatment plans, care coordination, and transition of care between settings.
- Attend community events to engage with members.
Required Skills and Experiences
- Registered Nurse with Psychiatric experience or Behavioral Health Professional that is Clinician licensed for independent practice with one or more of the following licenses with no restrictions:
- Licensed Marriage and Family Practice (LMFT) - Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) - Licensed Psychologist (LP) - Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
- 1 year of county and/or hospital experience.
- Medicaid/Medicare and/or Public Programs experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the experiences and need(s) of marginalized communities.
- Demonstrates strong empathy and relationship building skills.
- Strong acumen in communication skills including listening, speaking and writing skills.
- Strong computer application skills.
- High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred Skills and Experiences
- Medical/ Behavioral Health call center or managed care experience.
- Active, unrestricted Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) licensure
- Process and project management experience.
- Lived experience as a part of one of the following marginalized communities: Indigenous American, Black/ African American, or Hispanic/ Latino.
- 1+ years of managed care experience, e.g. case management/health coach, utilization management and/or auditing experience.
Compensation and Benefits: Pay Range: $67,200.00 - $89,100.00 - $111,000.00 Annual Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
