JOB SUMMARY: The Program Coordinator of the Professional Counseling Education Program (PCEP) assists the Deputy Director in developing, coordinating, and monitoring the implementation of the PCEP program, funded through the Department of Behavioral Health, which includes the course itself and internship coordination. The position works with the Department Director, Deputy Director, Department Coordinator, and the PCEP instructors to ensure the course and internship proceed as planned. The program coordinator facilitates a learning environment for the 40 students, supporting their education and helping recent graduates navigate their internship(s). The position supports the PCEP program from start to finish, including providing support for documentation and evaluation components to ensure licensure and continuous assessment for improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Assist in the planning and implementation of all PCEP activities and related projects.


    1. Work alongside the PCEP instructors and Department Coordinator to ensure a smooth academic experience for adult learners.
    2. Assist instructors and students with accessing and using digital tools and resources.
    3. Participate and facilitate team meetings related to the PCEP course and internship.
    4. Develop and maintain relationships with internship sites within the District of Columbia.
    5. Support the licensure and certification of the PCEP program via OSSE, HELC, and NAADAC.


  • Initiate and/or support the PCEP program (course and internship coordination).


    1. Recruit, enroll, and vet prospective students.



    2. Prepare and maintain course-related documents.



    3. Assist with the online application process.



    4. Facilitate instructor and stipend payments.



    5. Assist with the onboarding of Independent Contractors.



    6. Support the monitor(s) and class maintenance.




  • Support program communication and tracking activities and initiatives.


    1. Support Deputy Director in creation of course calendar and ensure timely reminders to instructors for scheduled classes.



    2. Provide technical support for course-related platforms.



    3. Serve as point of contact for students and instructor inquiries regarding course logistics and internship related concerns.



    4. Maintain and manage the PCEP email and correspondence.



    5. Maintain accurate attendance and student records and provide timely statistical and activity reports to the fund.



    6. Develop systems for monitoring and evaluating the progress of students along the pathway to becoming a Certified Addictions Counselor and share results with program management and funder.



    7. Manage and maintain all satisfaction and feedback received regarding the course and internship programs.




  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:




  • Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, or counseling.



  • 1 year of work experience, preferably in a social service organization as a coordinator or in an executive support role.



  • Experience supporting a virtual classroom setting.




SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:



  • Ability to build relationships and to work with people from diverse backgrounds
  • High level of computer skills including Windows-based operating environment, MS Office products, cloud environment, social media, and other internet applications (e.g. Zoom, Canva, Word, SharePoint).
