Overview

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a highly organized and patient-focused Scheduler to join our Macomb clinic team. In this role, you'll help coordinate the care journey by scheduling follow-up appointments, scans, and treatments, while also supporting billing and patient communication.

You'll work closely with providers, patients, and clinical teams to ensure appointments are accurate, timely, and aligned with each patient's care plan. Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Schedule follow-up visits, lab tests, imaging, and treatments for patients, including coordination with outside facilities.
  • Communicate appointment details and test instructions clearly to patients.
  • Collect co-pays, verify insurance codes, and enter billing information into the EMR.
  • Manage provider schedules and update consult, vacation, and on-call calendars.
  • Reschedule missed or changed appointments and confirm updates with patients.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding orders, referrals, and long-term follow-up needs.
  • Respond to patient messages and voicemails in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support new patient scheduling and provide cross-coverage for front desk or MOA roles as needed.
  • Travel to satellite clinics as required.
  • Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and Illinois CancerCare policies and procedures.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • 3+ years of experience in a healthcare setting (preferred)
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and medical terminology
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time. Involves contact with patients and public.
