How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:

The Rural Health program at Carilion encompasses primary care and over a dozen specialty clinics. The clinics are located across a broad geography in Southwest Virginia this role involves travel.

Supports Carilion's hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities.Responsible for the operations and leadership of the Rural Health Clinic (RHC) initiative. Serves as a liaison between RHC's and FCM leadership as well as hospital leadership. Participates on department and organization-wide interdisciplinary teams and committees. May have regional practice director responsibilities, including oversight of practices. Advises and makes recommendations to departmental leadership on the prioritization and allocation of department resources regarding transitioning and sustaining RHC clinics.

Collaborates with senior management, directors, physicians, nursing, allied health staff, patients and vendors to work through highly complex processes and situations. Fosters awareness and support for all departmental objectives, including RHC. Frequently communicates with other Directors, service lines, outlying delivery sites and external organizations to resolve problems and plan longer range activities. Requires 50% + travel to RHC sites. Maintains current knowledge of rural health clinic requirements, including all applicable regulatory, licensure and accrediting standards.

What We Require:

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Masters degree preferred. Healthcare discipline preferred or related field approved by Vice President. Knowledge of Rural Health Clinics. Rural Health Professional Certification preferred. Must be obtained within first year of employment.

Experience: 5 years experience in management, preferable health care environment demonstrating increased and/or diversified responsibility for related service areas required. Previous experience with rural health clinics preferred.

Other MinimumQualifications: Advanced leadership, planning, organizational, and accounting skills to manage multiple and potentially large, complex areas and to direct the successful completion of initiatives and achievement of fiscal goals and process improvement. Maintains a current knowledge of the healthcare and practice management industry. Demonstrated interpersonal and communications abilities to support team cohesiveness and a respectful inclusive culture of service excellence. Ability to engage in public contact work and public speaking. Maintains knowledge of medical coding and billing-related matters for medical specialty. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Access and Power Point. Ability to use electronic medical records.
