Description

Note: APA operates on a 37.5-hour work week with one-hour lunch breaks each day. APA sets salaries based on several considerations, including years of relevant experience, level of education, and previous staff and/or governance experience at APA.

The Book Content Coordinator seeks out new books for APA's discovery solutions. This role researches publishers and negotiates the receipt of complimentary electronic files with publicists or licensing agents. The Book Content Coordinator decides which books are appropriate for coverage. This position also functions as the primary researcher for new coverage areas for the Content Development team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :



  • A bachelor's degree in psychology or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Three to 4 years of experience working with book literature in the behavioral sciences (for example - a library or publishing setting) with a bachelor's degree.
  • Five years' experience working with book literature in the behavioral (for example - a library or publishing setting) may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Coursework in psychology research methods or psychometrics is a plus.


COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED (including level of expertise):



  • Document creation and management software, Basic
  • Financial and spreadsheet software, Intermediate
  • Agile development and management methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Lean Kit, Confluence, Trello), Basic


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Identifies books in targeted areas for discovery solutions products
  • Researches publishers and maintains an active prospect file
  • Researches new and/or growing multidisciplinary areas of potential interest to PsycINFO users
  • Works with publishers to receive books in the appropriate format
  • Evaluates books and publishing practices against an established book coverage policy
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships and communications with book publishers
  • Collaborates with APA's Books Department to ensure that books published by APA are released accurately and in a timely manner.
