We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer leads efforts to engineer, integrate, sustain, and optimize DISA's perimeter sensing systems. This role is responsible for systems design, implementation, operations support, and problem resolution in support of cybersecurity and sensor technologies across the DoDIN. The Senior Systems Engineer also contributes to formal system baselining, configuration management, lifecycle refresh planning, and testing.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead engineering and sustainment activities for sensor platforms and supporting systems deployed across the DISA cyber perimeter.
  • Diagnose, analyze, and resolve system performance issues and ensure systems are operating per design specifications.
  • Translate user needs into system and technical requirements; support system integration and development of commercial/GOTS/COTS-based solutions.
  • Conduct systems-level testing, validation, and verification; ensure solutions meet documented functional requirements.
  • Generate technical documentation, including system designs, interface specifications, and operational procedures.
  • Oversee system lifecycle tasks such as patching, updates, capacity planning, and optimization.
  • Provide configuration management, including version control, documentation updates, and baseline maintenance.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and cybersecurity personnel to ensure systems meet operational and accreditation standards.
  • Estimate resource requirements for system integration efforts, identify risk areas, and recommend engineering trade-offs.


Required Qualifications:


  • Experience: 8+ years in systems engineering roles supporting DoD or complex enterprise IT environments.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE) Highly Preferred; ITIL or SAFe certification preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Linux/Windows environments, virtualization, system integration, scripting/automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash), and system baselining.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience supporting DISA or DoDIN engineering projects, especially involving cybersecurity sensor integration or modernization.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, RMF processes, and baseline tracking tools.
  • Background in software configuration management and system performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of Agile or SAFe methodologies for engineering and sustainment tasking.




Pay Range: $100,000 - $150,000 per hour
