Title: Shift Lead

Function: Production

Reports To: Area Manager

Purpose/Summary:

Contributes to company profitability and customer satisfaction by supporting warehouse operations with goals of optimal production and high quality standards. Works alongside direct reports to ensure completion of daily warehouse or production duties. Takes direction from and works with warehouse management team to lead day-to-day operations in assigned area. Ensures all work is performed in a safe, secure, efficient and cost effective manner that complies with company policy, SOP's, OSHA and other applicable regulations. The Lead will be responsible for providing direction and coaching to assigned hourly associates and may also deliver/contribute to disciplinary action as needed.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.



  • Works alongside hourly associates, provides direction, coaching and guidance to ensure daily productivity and quality standards are achieved.
  • Perform functions in assigned area of warehouse as needed to meet business needs. Examples of duties include (not meant to be all inclusive): sorting products by location, product number and description regarding any shortages, overages or mis-picks; replenishing active locations; printing and sorting pick tickets; matching packing lists and carton shipping labels; carton induction; picking and/or packing customer orders; producing embellished garments, auditing orders, manifests orders
  • Manage the workflow of orders to maintain productivity standards while staying within service level requirements.
  • Ensures all equipment / technical resources attain maximum functional uptime.
  • Supports the staffing process and provides input to candidate interviews; ensures new associates are properly oriented, trained and coached to efficiently and effectively perform their assigned role. Ensures associates have the appropriate tools and resources needed for their position
  • Reviews processes and procedures in assigned area for efficiency and accuracy and works with management team to continually improve.
  • Provides associate with daily productivity assessment and keeps Area manager apprised of associate performance.
  • Makes recommendations to Area manager about manpower planning to cover all operating needs in assigned area.
  • Provide efficient and productive communication by leading shift start up meetings with assigned associates.
  • Examines associates' work for compliance to policy and procedure.
  • Delivers and maintains records of performance coachings/verbal warnings that have occurred with associates. Recommends additional disciplinary action to Shift Area manager as needed and contributes detail about specific areas of performance concern(s) for assigned hourly team members.
  • Troubleshoots issues as they arise and implements efficient and effective resolution.
  • Responsible for reporting any safety and/or security issues that arise in assigned area to the Shift Area manager.
  • As needed, has key carrying responsibility to ensure facility is secured during working hours and for unlocking/locking building per business needs.
  • Ensures housekeeping is performed daily and department is clean and in good order.
  • Uses data tools for hourly performance reporting/updates with justification for variances.



III. Qualifications (Experience/Knowledge/Systems/Applications or Equipment):

Experience: Previous warehouse/distribution center experience



  • * Experience in warehouse operations; prior experience in warehouse leadership is a plus.
  • * Depending on requirements in assigned area, able to work in and coach all assigned associates.
  • * Knowledge/experience with warehouse tools and/or production equipment, for example: WMS (warehouse management systems), RF gun technology, Material Handling Equipment and conveyor systems, embroidery equipment, commercial sewing equipment.
  • * Able to communicate clearly and listens carefully to associates questions.
  • * Can explain how to utilize assigned equipment and/or systems to assigned hourly associates.
  • * Computer skills to include a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn and navigate internal order management system (GQ).
  • * Able to coach and document performance concerns or performance successes.
  • * Manage times effectively, multi-tasks and can adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • * Able and willing to work overtime and flex assigned shift schedule as required to meet business needs
  • * Complies with internal company policies and procedures.



IV. Educational and/or Training Requirements:



  • High School, General Education Degree (GED) or Equivalent
  • Some College or Equivalent (Desired)
  • 4 Year Degree or Equivalent
  • Advanced Degree or Equivalent

VIII. Physical Requirements:



  • Typical office environment
  • Moderate physical activity: walking, standing, moving materials, boxes, etc.
  • Heavy physical activity: lifting, bending, carrying heavy materials, boxes, etc.
  • Significant business travel required


Ability to work in a non-climate controlled warehouse with cold temperatures in the winter months and hot temperatures in the summer months.
