JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:

Directs and coordinates the regional Wholesale Credit Approval Administration activities to establish and maintain a credit culture that contributes to building and maintaining a quality asset portfolio. Participates in formulating and administering Credit and Asset Quality policies to support Hancock Whitney strategy and organizational objectives. Leads team of Senior Regional and Regional Credit Officers to ensure timely, consistent, and thoughtful credit decisions throughout the credit approval process. Serves as a primary regulatory liaison for the function.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and coordinates activities of Credit Administration for the further attainment of goals and objectives. Including, but not limited to: Loan Underwriting and Approval, Loan Collection and Recovery, Working Capital Support and Specialty Finance Areas to include Equipment Financing, International, Institutional and various Treasury Management products.
  • Monitors and manages (directly and through subordinates) credit approval processes/practices/policies for wholesale commercial credits.
  • Continuously interacts with state and federal banking regulators.
  • Serves as member of CREDCO, Wholesale Banking Credit Administration Committee (WBCAC), multiple Watch Committees and the Charge-off/Non-Accrual Committee.
  • Ensures that the bank is compliant with FDIC Regulation O.
  • Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine department and division progress toward stated goals and objectives.
  • Review and takes an active part in ensuring that lender education is appropriately addressed within the company.
  • Partners closely with Senior Regional President(s) for the purpose of assisting them in meeting their loan production and asset quality goals.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by Senior Management.
  • Incumbent is required to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor Degree in a related field. Advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years of related credit, risk management, and lending experience and/or training
  • Or Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong Commercial Lending, Credit, general credit processes and Credit Administration background
  • Comprehensive knowledge of wholesale lending policies, procedures, practices and documentation

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate a keyboard if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
