REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Park Aide (Mooring Fields) - Part Time 19 at Hollywood North Beach Park.
This Job Announcement will remain open until a sufficient number of applications are received.

General Description
The Parks Aide (Mooring Field) is responsible for assisting with the operation and maintenance of the Loggerhead Park Mooring Field at Hollywood North Beach. Performs a variety of park maintenance and program implementation activities. Assists skilled trades staff based on area of assignment. Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires six (6) months in general grounds and facility maintenance, customer service, recreational activities, and/or a point of sale system based on area of assignment or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses Required:
Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License with authority to drive a county vehicle for duration of appointment.

Preferences:
Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
1+ years experience in boating experience
1+ years VHF radio experience
1+ years in docking, tying down, fueling boats

Additional Information:
All candidates must complete an extensive ten (10) year work history verification and criminal background check which includes post-offer physical examination, clearing of DCF's Affidavit of Good Moral Character (https://www.myflfamilies.com/service-programs/background-screening/docs/DCF%20AGMC.pdf). Ability to maintain authorization to operate a county vehicle/equipment.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Interacts with the public and other County employees in order to give directions or information, explains work activities/procedures, identifies service needs, and/or resolves day-to-day operational issues; collects fees and operates a cash register or point of sale software.

Operates the Parks Division's Rigid Inflatable Boat and assists boaters connecting to the mooring buoys within the mooring field boundary.

Maintains a variety of parks, grounds and landscape areas in order to ensure that the areas are presentable, clean, and safe; cleans offices, break rooms, restrooms, pavilions, boat docks, tables/chairs, and related areas/facilities in order to provide a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for work/recreation.

Inspects park facilities, including buildings, parking areas, boat docks, mooring buoys, pavilions, and picnic areas in order to ensure a safe work and recreation environment for employees and the public; performs a variety of facility maintenance work in order to ensure a clean, safe, sanitary environment for the public and County employees.

Sets up and takes down temporary facilities for meetings and special activities and events in order to provide a safe, comfortable location for special events/activities.

Picks up and delivers a variety of items to appropriate locations in order to ensure supplies and materials are available where and when needed and/or delivers mail.

Performs related work as assigned.

Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.

Involves routine and frequent exposure to extreme heat and/or cold; wet or humid conditions.
