Contract Opportunity

The K-12 Editor's primary responsibility is to edit research reports, statements of work, and Membership Action Plans to ensure they are client-ready and align to Hanover's high standards for professional, academic writing. As such, this position requires strong writing skills, precise attention to detail, experience with academic writing, knowledge of Hanover K-12 Content style guides, and familiarity with Hanover research practices. We are seeking a highly-motivated, self-driven editor with the ability to work independently and autonomously. Candidates familiar with Hanover deliverables, style guides, and research practices are ideal for this position. This position will report directly to the Senior Director for K-12 Research.

Responsibilities

  • Edit draft research reports (post Researcher and Content Directors drafts) to make them client-ready.

  • Contribute to the creation of Statements of Work (SOWs) and Membership Action Plans (MAPs) from call recordings, Content Director notes, and templates provided in the Project Description Library (PDL) and/or edit SOWs and MAPs to make them client-ready.

  • Ensure all reports (e.g., Word, PPTs, Excel Data Supplements, Dashboard narratives), SOWs, and MAPs meet Hanover's high expectations for excellent writing, perfect grammar, and adherence to Hanover styles guides.

  • Provide feedback for Content Directors and Researchers on writing quality, report presentation, number of edit hours required, and any constructive notes to inform improved research and writing practices.

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and editing skills with extensive experience in reviewing written narrative reports;

  • Knowledge of academic writing rules and practices including strong command of the English language;

  • Ability to comprehend client needs from call recordings and/or Content Directors' notes and translate these needs into viable research solutions through SOW and MAP development;

  • Ability to provide written, constructive feedback in a professional manner that serves to improve writing and research practices and skills;

  • Ability to work independently in a self-paced environment and meet project deadlines;

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;

  • Experience writing and researching for a business or professional audience;

  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

  • Extremely strong and demonstrable work ethic;

  • Proven academic and professional achievement;

  • High comfort level with Microsoft Office applications, such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MSPower Point.

Education Requirement
A liberal arts degree in English, Social Sciences, or other program that includes extensive writing requirements is preferred. Experience as a teacher, instructor, editor, or other position related to writing or editing.

Experience Requirement
Minimum of 5 - 10 years of full-time work experience in professional or academic writing, teaching, or editing preferably within the education sector strongly preferred.

Compensation

Compensation for this position is $30 per hour for up to 10 hours per week until October 24, 2025.
