General Information: University Recreation (UREC) is currently seeking applicants for a Facilities and Equipment Support Specialist. UREC is a Health & Well-being department within the Student Affairs division. The mission of UREC is to promote and advance healthy lifestyles through educational programs, participation opportunities and supportive services. UREC's qualified staff is committed to excellence and responsive to the developmental needs of their participants. Duties and Responsibilities: Outdoor and Satellite Facility Maintenance:
- Supports UREC facilities manager to perform cleaning and repairs at UPARK, John Carr Field and UREC Turf (fencing, netting and sport equipment), Mauck stadium, Softball Practice Field, Hillside (basketball, pickleball and hockey courts).
- Supports facility preparation for programs (field preparation, lining, and equipment moving) at outdoor/indoor satellite spaces.
UREC Building Maintenance:
- Supports the UREC Maintenance Manager to maintain the exterior & grounds of UREC to dispose of loose trash, remove leaves & debris, wash ground spills and ensure all exterior trash cans are emptied.
- Supports the preventive maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment, including the pools/spa/sauna and cleaning/treatment of stainless steel in Aquatics Center.
UREC Equipment Maintenance:
- Supports UREC Equipment Manager in performing preventative maintenance of fitness equipment, gym equipment, bleachers/seating, scoring & timing equipment and office furniture.
UREC Motor Pool Management:
- Maintains UREC vehicles (5 vans, 2 trucks, and Prius plus 3 trailers) including: weekly inspections, refueling, cleaning (inside and out), recording mileage and ensuring repairs are performed as needed to maintain safety
- Communicate as needed with UREC staff to schedule services, noting any damage and to report any suspected misuse.
Qualifications: Required qualifications:
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work a minimum of 4 hours per day for five days per week OR 5 hours per day for four days a week
- Ability to operate power tools safely
- Ability to follow verbal directions
Additional Considerations:
- Experience in performing minor repairs and maintenance
- Ability to work autonomously and follow written directions
- Availability to work up to 29 hours/week when needed, including some weekends
