About The Role: As an entry-level Construction Materials - Geotechnical Professional, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and safety of construction projects. By evaluating and confirming the quality of materials used and conducting subsurface explorations, you contribute significantly to the success of infrastructure developments. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will gain hands-on experience, perform technical analyses, and develop your report-writing skills, making a tangible impact on project outcomes.
- Testing Construction Materials: Perform tests and oversee special inspections of materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and others to ensure they meet project specifications and industry standards.
- Analyzing Construction Plans and Specifications: Verify that they align with project goals before conducting field observations.
- Recording and Managing Field Activities: Document detailed observations and test results during project execution, using Metafield or other management systems daily for efficient data handling and coordination.
- Field Operations Coordination: Lead and manage field exploration and drilling activities.
- Laboratory Testing and Analysis: Conduct soil and rock tests, analyze subsurface conditions, and support engineering and geological assessments.
- Report Preparation: Create detailed reports with findings, insights, and recommendations for project development.
About You:
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
- You have basic working knowledge of construction plans and specifications
- You have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and MicroStation, with the ability to learn commercial software applications
- You are willing to obtain International Code Council (ICC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), and/or Department of Transportation (DOT) certifications in the fields of aggregate, asphalt, soil, reinforced concrete, and masonry
- You have basic business and technical writing skills
Are You Willing and Able to: Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
- Outdoor, hands-on work in all weather conditions
- Walking over rough terrain and standing for long periods (up to 12 hours)
- Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of materials and equipment
- Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
- Working outside of normal business hours and traveling occasionally as the need arises
