Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer to be based out of our Hobart, IN location. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, this person will be responsible for the development & troubleshooting of processes and product lines as related to design, material, or process. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:



  • Facilitate & participate in concept brainstorming & strategy sessions.
  • Influence and propel multi-functional team members to achieve stretch goals.
  • Work as a "hands-on" Engineer developing and troubleshooting product lines as related to design, material, or process.
  • Lead capital projects including scope of work development, cost justification, vetting and choosing a proposal, leading multi-functional team, and leading install and commissioning.
  • Maintain and modify plant equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable and efficient.
  • Plan and design experiments and conduct data analysis in support of product lines.
  • Design and implement test methods and equipment to support product development.
  • Responsible for research & engineering documentation.
  • Provide technical assistance for troubleshooting & diagnosing design and manufacturing quality problems.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality or to assess existing technologies.
  • Research future concepts within market including the monitoring of technology trends.


What you'll bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering.
  • 2-5 years' experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Excellent in 2D CAD applications - AutoCAD. Inventor and 3D CAD applications as a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in the use of Windows Applications: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to achieve consensus, provide leadership, and create accountability.
  • Project Management Experience including defining, detailing, documentation, and driving completion of projects.


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program.
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Conduct time studies and recommend changes when needed.
  • Develop work instructions for operations and quality checks and design systems for various operations.


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Manage continuous improvement projects, and rectify issues to achieve cost savings, quality improvements, and improve efficiency.
  • Develop and manage capital projects supporting new product offerings and improvements of current manufacturing processes.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $74,960 - $103,070. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
