Job Summary
The Auburn University Libraries Special Collections and Archives Department seeks an undergraduate student employee for metadata entry production.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Entering metadata for the department's legacy finding aids into an online archival management system (for each finding aid, the student will enter the title, record group number, accession number, resource type, language, dates, cubic feet, subject headings, donor information, biographical/historical note, scope and contents description, access note, and various other informational notes unique to each collection.
  • Entering an inventory for each collection.
  • Assisting with data cleanup to match current archival standards.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and handle materials responsibly.
  • Verifying biographical and historical information for each collection.
  • Verifying that archival collections match finding aid inventories.
  • Processing small archival collections and add finding aids to the archival management system.
  • Occasional help at the reference desk.

Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled student at Auburn University
Expectations:

  • Report for the shift on time.
  • Familiar with data entry.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Interest in public service and delivery of quality customer service.
  • Be willing to work as a team member while interacting with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Dependability, multi-tasking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, balancing, hearing, handling objects with hands, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data entry experience
  • History major

Pay Rate $9.00/hour
Work Hours Student will work up to 10 hours per week depending on availability and department needs.
