The Sr. Manager, Ammonia Systems and PSM Processes plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and efficiency of ammonia system management as well as key environmental programs required for proper bakery operations across all Aspire Bakeries locations. This position is responsible for developing and overseeing proactive maintenance systems, implementing best practices, and ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols to mitigate risks. Additionally, the role provides strategic leadership in environmental compliance, ensuring all bakeries meet local, state, and federal regulations necessary for safe and sustainable operations.

Responsibilities:



  • Lead environmental compliance programs across bakeries, ensuring adherence to IIAR standards and federal/state regulations (Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, wastewater permitting, hazardous material handling/disposal).
  • Own and execute the Contractor Safety Management process, ensuring safe, compliant work across all utility and maintenance contractors.
  • Oversee all Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) requirements, including recordkeeping, monthly compliance meetings, and training programs.
  • Partner with in-house teams and contractors to conduct technical analyses (infrared, vibration, ultrasound, X-ray, energy metering), driving real-time insights that improve reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Manage bakery utility systems (steam, refrigeration, compressed air, wastewater, energy), ensuring safe operations, contractor/employee proficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Chair the Aspire North America Ammonia Committee and build a Community of Practice for ammonia technicians across all sites.
  • Provide strategic leadership through budgeting, training, mentoring, and performance management for bakery engineering teams, while staying current on manufacturing technologies to drive continuous improvement.



Qualifications:



  • 7+ years of operations and maintenance management experience in a manufacturing environment, with expertise in ammonia refrigeration, steam, compressed air, wastewater, industrial electrical systems, and automated manufacturing process controls.
  • Prior ammonia refrigeration and Process Safety Management (PSM) experience is required.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret work orders, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions; accurately document maintenance activities.
  • Strong oral communication skills; actively listens, clarifies, responds effectively to questions, and contributes meaningfully in meetings.
  • Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, internet applications, and CMMS systems (SAP strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts is preferred
  • Working knowledge of spoken Spanish is preferred.
  • Travel: Up to 75% (contingent on business need).



Salary Range: $145,000.00 - $165,000.00
