MRR Reactor Operations

Job Description

The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is seeking a Project Manager to monitor the performance, schedule, budget, and implementation of projects for a nuclear/radiological and biopharmaceutical organization. Projects consist of various scopes, sizes, and stakeholder engagement and require proactive communication and collaboration with the University's Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC) function. The incumbent should demonstrate solid knowledge (PMBOK) and application of project management principles and methodologies, as well as strong communication, teamwork, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. This position will report to the Senior Director of Facility Operations.
MURR Facility Operations supports the critical infrastructure necessary to deliver the efficient and safe operation of the research reactor, isotope production, and research activities. This includes the development and maintenance of a long-term facility master plan.

Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of assigned projects and proactively communicate status and risks to designated stakeholders.
  • Follow and establish necessary programs and processes that ensure projects are completed on schedule, within specifications and budget.
  • Monitor and mitigate risks throughout execution. Identify and manage issues throughout the project.
  • Demonstrate the nine traits of a healthy nuclear culture and hold self and others accountable to demonstrating behaviors of a Safety Conscious Work Environment (SCWE).
  • Ensure the appropriate and corresponding work packages are drafted and approved before impacted project work is completed and as work progresses.
  • Monitor quality of deliverables and proactively engage MURR functional technical subject matter experts on specifications.
  • Provide periodic status reports to stakeholders, as requested and defined.
  • Establish a high level of engagement with Reactor Operations, Facility Operations, Health Physics and Safety, Production, and other internal MURR functions.
  • Interface with PDC to ensure the timely completion of projects and identify and address risks and emerging issues proactively.
  • Establish a strong relationship with the Campus facility group to ensure MURR objectives are met within the guidance and requirements of the University of Missouri charter.
Shift

Monday - Friday, 8AM to 5PM with some work outside of the normal schedule as projects require.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Additional licensures are necessary as required by regulatory authorities.

Preferred Qualifications

Project Management Profession (PMP) certification.
Nuclear and /or radiological facility experience.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
Grade: GGS MKT
