Position Summary

This position will be a part of the Technology and Commercial Transactions Practice Group (T&CT Practice Group), which provides legal support to numerous clients throughout The Johns Hopkins Health System on a wide variety of transactional matters. This new position will, along with four other attorneys in the Practice Group, have a particular focus on information technology, software, and artificial intelligence procurement contracting and related advice. The position will report to the Senior Counsel IT Service Line Lead, who reports to the Chief Legal Counsel & Practice Group Leader for the T&CT Practice Group. The IT Service Line supports numerous IT clients throughout the Johns Hopkins Medicine enterprise with their general transactional needs, including drafting and negotiating technology acquisition, licensing, and implementation agreements, a broad range of consulting arrangements, and data use and sharing agreements, among others. The IT Service Line also services as a trusted business advisors to our clients, providing broader legal and compliance advice on topics related to technology, innovation, artificial intelligence and data use. The IT Service Line collaborates regularly with legal colleagues in HIPAA, Compliance, Risk and Claims, and Supply Chain to address the full scope of issues presented by various transactions and contractual relationships. The successful candidate will be an asset to the T&CT Practice Group by exhibiting not only expert legal knowledge, but also exceptional project management and interpersonal skills with a proven history of developing and maintaining strong client relationships, and the ability to constructively negotiate a wide variety of legal agreements.



Role Accountabilities Include:



  • Providing legal advice on matters related to assigned Practice Group
  • Recognizing and advising clients on legal concerns
  • Developing creative, practical, and accurate solutions to potential legal issues and applying legal principles to facts
  • Preparing, negotiating and/or reviewing a wide variety of legal documents
  • Investigating, researching and/or analyzing client matters
  • Handling matters of increasing complexity



Qualifications:



  • A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Seven (7) years of overall professional experience including five (5) years of legal practice as a licensed attorney.
  • Of the total experience, three (3) years should include demonstrated leadership responsibilities such as managing projects, assigning work, or leading teams.
  • Member in good standing of the Maryland Bar, or jurisdiction; and eligible to become licensed to practice in Maryland or Florida.


Salary Range: $165,000 per year - $215,000 per year. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
