We have an exciting opportunity for an Electronics Technician III to join the ever-growing Phoenix Logistics team. This position based in Illesheim, Germany provides technical support for the Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT) device under the Warfighter-Training Readiness Solutions Program (W-TRS). Summary: The Electronics Technician applies technical knowledge to perform maintenance, removal/installation and repair of aircrew simulators and trainers across all platforms and domains. They are responsible for performing basic operations, completing pre and post flight inspections, and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on legacy or advanced flight simulators as assigned. They will evaluate and troubleshoot user problems and system malfunctions on complex network computer systems, visual & display systems, laser & weapon systems, video & audio systems, high voltage systems and interface & peripheral systems. They will be responsible for accurately entering and maintaining documentation of repairs, inventory, and other associated trainer documentation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meet and comply will all requirements outlined in the contractual Performance Work Statement (PWS), Statement of Work (SOW), Task Order (TO) in order to perform evaluation, troubleshooting, calibration, adjustment, testing, maintenance, removal/installation of electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, computer and visual display components; as well as apply advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems which typically cannot be solved by referencing manufacturer's manuals or similar documents.
- Read, understand, and work from schematics, engineering drawings, written and/or verbal instructions.
- Troubleshoot and repair analog and digital electronics to the system, subsystem and component level.
- Select, set-up, and operate test equipment; observe, analyze, record and report test data and when appropriate-make necessary repairs.
- Prepare Engineering Change Notices (ECN) when necessary. Perform repetitive or standard production assembly operations on electronic or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as CCA's, terminal boards, panels, consoles, drawers, frames, and cables.
- Possess knowledge in use of electronic test equipment including Digital Multimeters, Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Light Meters, Logic Analyzers, sine wave generators, special test equipment and complex test computer control equipment.
- Perform standard morning readiness tasks on all assigned training devices and ensure training devices are maintained according to published procedures and standards.
- Assist in maintaining training device reliability perimeters and contracted performance factors.
- Maintain training device sub-systems, generate work orders in Management Information System (MIS) and address discrepancies observed during work hours; and will identify, research and order repair and replacement components using the MIS as the identified contractual procurement system.
- Clean training devices, computer rooms and surrounding areas as required.
- Review work completed by other Electronic Techs as an overarching checks and balances management tool.
- Be responsible for all duties as specified in the PWS, SOW, TO, maintenance, quality, safety, and training & simulation plans.
- Conduct Count Reports to assist in managing both Prime Contractor and Government spares inventory.
- Must be a motivated self-starter due to working independently in remote areas.
- Must be available to travel with AVCATT suite during relocation to training sites away from home station and be willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Conduct pre/post travel and Quality Acceptance Test procedures.
- Prepare train for travel by completing teardown, movement to alternate training site, set-up, and post travel ATP to ensure training device is ready for training.
- Perform other collateral and ancillary duties as required and assigned the Site Manager or Program manager.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- BS/BA degree in electronics technology; have received military electronics technical training; or obtained 5-7 years equivalent training/experience.
- Must meet all skill requirements for an Electronics Technician III and have broad simulator system level knowledge combined with specialized training in visual, computer, or display disciplines.
- Possess major system level maintenance experience and complex fault isolation abilities.
- Position requires demonstrated experience to include large scale, complex D/A integration; simulation; complex digital interfaces; software maintenance; and comprehensive troubleshooting and repair of training devices.
- Be physically able to climb stairs, ladders, work in confined and/or dark spaces, work with hand tools and lift up to 75 pounds unassisted.
- Demonstrates knowledge and performance with Windows 10, Windows 2000 Professional/NT/XP/Vista 7, UNIX (LINUX), MOOG electric motion systems, Wittenstein electric servo systems, SEOS, RSI or RCI visual systems, SW/PGIG HLA/DIS or Enterprise Network (SW//HW/Ethernet/Firewire cabling ARINC 429 and 1553 data bus) or equivalent.
- Experience with Army Aviation training systems is a plus.
- Must be a US citizen and have or be able to obtain and hold a SECRET clearance.
- Have thorough understanding of Military standards and specifications as used in the performance and maintenance actions.
- Be able to obtain IAT Level I or II credentials as assigned IAW DOD 8570 or equivalent or be capable of obtaining Level I within 6 months or Level II within 12 months of assignment.
Preferred Skills:
- Prefer a minimum of eight (8) years demonstrated competence through satisfactory progressive performance in electronics maintenance.
- Prefer maintenance experience of all major areas, systems, and subsystems of those trainers and systems being supported.
- 8-10 years of equivalent civilian experience simulation training maintenance.
