POSITION SUMMARY
The Grooming Manager is responsible for leadership of the grooming and trail crew teams, providing the best snow surface possible, and financial oversight of the grooming department. This position requires the execution and management of all operational, technical and mechanical related issues contained within or associated within the resort grooming operation. This is a benefit eligible full-time year-round role, compensated between $55,000 - $75,000 annually.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Oversee the day-to-day and season-to-season management of the Grooming and Trail Crew teams
- In cooperation with HR, manage the recruiting, staffing, training, retention, evaluation and motivation of all personnel
- Establish best practices
- Maintain proficient understanding of technological and service advances within the ski industry associated with areas of responsibilities
- Maintain excellent guest and employee rapport and ensure customer satisfaction remains at the highest level possible
- Attend daily meetings as required
- Readiness to step in as back up into any part of the daily operations
- Perform routine inspections of all facilities and machines to ensure they are in optimal and safe operating condition
- Develop and maintain required and appropriate operational record keeping ensuring regular analysis and effective management of operations
- Develop and communicate department plans, goals, and objectives to the team
- Maintain the highest safety standards and code compliance for guests and staff daily
- Support budget guidelines and targets
- Communicate and plan with Senior Mountain Operations Manager daily
- Additional duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
- Associate or bachelor's degree in business, or related field, preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous grooming, and/or ski industry experience
- 7 - 10 years of large scale supervisory experience
- Previous experience and knowledge of snowcat, and heavy equipment operations
