Posting Summary |
University Correctional Healthcare is seeking a Supervising Physician located at East Jersey State Prison, located in Rahway, NJ. The Supervising Physician will be responsible for providing medical services to inmates of the Department of Corrections, which are consistent with community Standards of Care; will provide clinical supervision to the assigned physicians and medical nurse practitioners; and serve as liaison for clinical matters with medical providers outside of the system and must be available to provide on- call services.
Duties include:
- Provides management and monitoring of physicians and nurse practitioners.
- Works in concert with the Medical Director and the regional nurse managers to develop and maintain appropriate medical services within the assigned region.
- Assists in the development and implementation of UCHC's policies and procedures.
- Participates in UCHC's continuous quality improvement program.
- Corrective action plans.
- Continuing medical education.
- Algorithms/models for best practices.
- Participates in the formal preparation for health care reviews (such as National Commission of Correctional HealthCareinspections).
- Oversees the work of physicians and nurse practitioners in the region and conducts peer reviews, including documentationand medication usage patterns, as assigned

- Licensed physician in the State of New Jersey.
- Current DEA registration and CDS and CPR certifications.
- Must be BoardCertified and qualified by the state laws/regulations to practice medicine.
- Experienced in a primary care specialty.
- Computer literacy.
- Valid driver's license is required. Possesses own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.
