Shift: Full-time 32 hours per week- 2 week rotation, (week 1- 7:00am-3:00pm Monday, Friday, Saturday, Tue. 2:30pm-10:30pm) (week 2 - 7:00am-3:00 pm Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Monday 2:30pm -10:30pm)

Powell Chemical Dependency Center (CDC), located at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, is a safe and supportive setting where individuals can face their drug and alcohol abuse and learn to recover. Powell CDC allows individuals to work with their families and significant others to rebuild their lives and the lives of others affected by the uncertainty, pain, loss, helplessness and fear created by drug abuse. It is possible to live life substance free. Powell Chemical Dependency Center is licensed through the Bureau of Substance Abuse with the State of Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.

Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence/Patient Education

  • Assesses needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making the necessary referrals to provide continuity of care.
  • Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient's care.

Clinical Excellence/Patient Care

  • Provides care and medication as directed by physician and/or nurse practitioner and documents delivery in EPIC. Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgment, and maintains responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.

Care Coordination

  • Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program
  • 6 months of hospital clinical experience or demonstrated clinical efficiency.
  • Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as outlined per policy or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a mental health or substance abuse treatment setting is preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to compute algebraic equations.
  • Writes, reads comprehends and speaks fluent English.
  • Must be able to work independently and assume responsibility for timely completion of assigned functions.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

Other:

  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
