What we expect
ams-OSRAM OS is currently seeking a Scientist/Engineer to join our Research & Development team. The candidate is expected to take part in research and technology development projects but also to be able to guide colleagues and lead work packages or entire projects. Typical projects focus on improving key parameters of different materials (for example polymers, ceramics, glasses and/or composites, including nano-size materials) or establish an understanding for moving in novel directions with designed materials solutions used in the packaging of optoelectronic devices. This involves exploiting interrelationships between mechanical/thermal/optical properties, chemical composition, processing, microstructure, defects and the resulting performance. He/she will use a variety of materials chemistry and diagnostic methods, investigate preferred precision fabrication operations, and work together with precursor and other external suppliers. The successful candidate will join a skilled and motivated team for advancing current capabilities, developing new processes, and implementing new technologies. Participation in frequent interactions between research and development, engineering, and production colleagues is required for efficient implementation of innovations in development and scale-up/industrialization, and for recommending potential improvements in manufacturing processes. Exeter, NH is one of the centers of excellence for polymers, ceramics, glass, and composites within ams-OSRAM. The successful candidate joining the R&D team will be involved in the creation of materials and processes at state-of-the-art level to benefit various global business lines of the company.
