Summary:

The Junior Scientist and Science Technician will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Human Research Protections Group (HRPG). This entry-level role is ideal for early-career professionals with a strong interest in human subjects research protections and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will contribute to the oversight and support of research activities, ensuring alignment with ethical and legal standards.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support the HRPG team in implementing and monitoring human subjects research protections.
  • Assist in the review and analysis of research protocols and documentation for compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders across a diverse research environment.
  • Organize and manage work assignments, ensuring timely and accurate task completion.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documentation.
  • Travel locally, regionally, and nationally as needed to support program activities.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Have strong working knowledge of human subjects' protections regulations, and guidelines.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work well with various individuals throughout a dynamic and diverse research enterprise, organize work assignments and collaborate across teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Arts/Science Degree
  • Up to three (3) years of experience
  • Available to travel locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting federal research programs or human subjects research.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and research ethics frameworks.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and reporting systems.

Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000 annually.
