Summary:

The Infection Prevention Specialist role is responsible for monitoring and responding to Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) and communicable infections by conducting surveillance, tracking cases, ensuring adequate isolation precautions, investigating suspected outbreaks, and helping develop and implement action plans to prevent and control infections. This role will monitor and respond to HAI infections and serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies related to infectious disease.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Associate degree in related field (Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Epidemiology) required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Certification by the Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) required.
  3. Experience: Associate degree will require eight years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree will require five years of relevant experience. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of an Infection Prevention Specialist.
